Hard Hats and High Profits

Online business can often be an echo chamber of “gurus” telling you to use your laptop to unlock unlimited riches.

While it sounds good, it’s not for everyone.

Let’s get real 👇️

Rise Of The Internet Guru

When the internet launched it opened a new world of online business.

Social media influencers, ecom moguls, cyber security nerds, streamers, software devs, etc, etc, etc. Along with it were the people sharing how they got “internet rich” and telling us that we all need an online hustle to take advantage of this new age of business.

Step out of your computer screen though, and 99% of the people you interact with everyday have very little clue about online business, and much less want to pursue it themselves.

And that’s okay.

Outside The Screen

Being from a small rural area in South Texas a majority of the surrounding area was “blue collar".” Many of my friends and family worked manual labor jobs. Farmers, welders, ranchers, carpenters, plumbers, construction, operators and electricians to name a few.

There weren’t many IT bros or computer science nerds in my part of the woods, and that’s how it has to be.

Think of the stuff you use everyday.

That road you drive on. The tender steak you cut into at your favorite steakhouse. The roof that is over your head as you read this (if you’re on a beach somewhere I’m jealous).

None of these revolve around a laptop screen.

Blue Money Pays

Let’s take that steak for example.

Somewhere out there a rancher has to maintain his land, feed the herd, deal with years of no rain, and simply complete the daily tasks required to raise livestock.

Before him there is an army of other people selling him feed, tools, fencing supplies, and drilling the oil that is refined into the diesel for his tractor.

After him is a butcher, distributor, and a big rig driver that logs miles by the night.

All so you can cut into that steak.

The ironic part is many of the folks in that process run a more successful business than the Shopify guru claiming to have sold $100k of the next hot product (yeah the one who forgot to tell you about the $99,000 on ads he spent to generate those sales).

Conclusion

Internet money is often flashy, blue collar money is often quiet, but the bank doesn’t care either way.

Non-internet business kings and queens exist all around us. Next time you’re out think about these businesses which are often taken for granted. Your avocado toast, and flashy MacBook pro wouldn’t be here without the hard working people behind these companies.

And who knows, you might just find an opportunity all the internet bros missed.

Zuckerberg Brags About The Meta Quest - Last week, Apple’s release of the Vision Pros took the tech world by storm. In response to Apple’s release, Zuck took to social media this week to defend Meta’s Quest headset. He makes some interesting points, but I have a feeling this war between Zuck and Apple is just beginning.

Background: Lyft had a typo in their earnings the week and accidently announced margins were expanding 500bps (the actual number was 50bps lol).

The stock proceeded to rip over 60% then crash 20%.

If you dollar cost average, you get it.
